  • GT is a great look on the Outside - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

The pontiac Grand Prix GT is an awesome looking car and a great buy because it looks so good. However, as you drvie this car daily the one thing you realize is the drivers seat is extremely uncomfortable and has a gap in the head rest, WHY PONTIAC? I have the premium sound system and it sounds great except when I hit a bump and I realize I will eventually need to buy a new cd player because this one skips so much. The guy I bought this car from said it got up to 30 m.p.g. and it DOES NOT. It gets maybe 23 and thats on the highway. I have had no problems with my car since I have bought it, so my recommendation is if you want a good car for about 5 grand this is a great buy.

  • Looks nice, but needs improvement - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

My dad is a GM mechanic, and he recommended me to buy this car. It has been very reliable except for the intake manifold (design problem). Also, the car makes enough HP that it does very well on long trips. The long trip highway mileage is very good.At times I get close to 30 mpg. This car is very spacious. I like it. However, the interior plastic is kinda chessy. I bought this car with 107k miles, and now it has 123k. I drove for 14 hours non-stop from Idaho to Arizona without any problems. Overall, I love this car. I would strongly suggest anybody who wants to buy a GP to make sure the previous owner had taken excellent care before you buy the car.

This car is definitely a good car 2 pull out on any day of the week, would not say it is commuter friendly its a gas guzzler. All and all it is a great car would give a strong recommendation for anyone considering this car

I bought my Grand Prix in January of this year and i love it. The car has a lot of power and it handles really well. On the street, it is more than a match for other coupes in its class. The interior is comfortable and the controls are easy to use.

The Grand Prix GTP is a great all around vehicle it combines all the qualities of luxury, sports, family and flat out Muscle cars. The 3800 series 2 supercharged V6 is a proven performer with plenty of torque and horsepower all the way up to its 6,000 rpm redline.

I bought my grand Prix almost three years ago and for the most part, have enjoyed it since then.. There have been some problems with the inside door panels coming loose, the heater went out, and the window operating unit has broken. I have put alot of money into this car in little misc. parts... It has nickle and dimed me death... I love this car, but probably will not ever buy one again..

  • Power for cheap, crap reliability - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

When I purchased this car in 03 with 40,000 miles on it, it was about 5 years old. Being a GM car, I expected it to run into some nickel-and-dime type problems, but got more than I bargained for. I was told that the 3800II engine was ultra-reliable, but came to learn that from 97-99 roughly, the plastic intake manifold was suspect to cracking and coolant leaks, leading to VERY expensive repairs. Read below for specific problems/etc.

  • Worth the money - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

I really enjoy my Grand Prix, but have to say that as Ive neared 100,000 miles, it has more and more little things breaking down. Temp sensors, ABS sensors, an oil light sensor that wont shut off, LED windshield display fades in and out, shift knob broke off, mirror joystick slipped into the door jam, backing plates, and now some strange whirring noise that I cant figure out. Up until recently, this was my dream car. Now, its simply a good used car with some issues. For power, comfort, style and extras, this car was a hit. Just wish it held together a bit better.

  • This car is bleeding me dry - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

The car us fun to drive, but the build quality is so pathetic. Ive put thousands into repairs ... and not just routine maintenance like new tires and brakes. GM still has yet to figure out how electronics work. Many lights in the dash dont work. The steering-wheel radio controls are kaput. The computer chips have gone haywire at different times. Both door windows have gone bad multiple times. Two weeks ago it was a fuel pump. A few days ago it was a window switch. Sorry to say, GM, but youre sorry-ass car will lead me to buy Honda or Toyota. The statistics bear out the undeniable fact that GM really doesnt build quality cars.

Fun car to fix up for performance and handling or to leave stock.
